Guesthouse SEI-SEKI is a renovated traditional Japanese house available for complete rental in Otsu City, Shiga Prefecture.
Located in the center of Otsu City where you can feel the presence of Lake Biwa, our guesthouse is in an excellent location just 10 minutes on foot from JR Otsu Station and 20 minutes by train from Kyoto Station, making it only 8 minutes walking distance to the shores of Lake Biwa, ideal as a base for sightseeing.
The spacious accommodation that can host up to 9 guests is perfect for family trips or stays with groups of friends.
Since we rent out the entire building, you can create special moments together while maintaining your privacy.

About the House
Before renovation, this house was a private residence owned by the parents of our owner. While Otsu’s landscape is gradually changing, as evidenced by the construction boom of apartment buildings, we chose not to demolish this old structure. Instead, we aimed to create a space that honors the memories and feelings of its previous inhabitants.

We preserved the exterior almost entirely to retain the memories of the neighborhood and home, while designing the interior to weave together old and new elements.

Our Vision
Otsu possesses unique charms cultivated by local people, including food culture and industries centered around Lake Biwa. As a facility that can convey the wonders of Otsu and Shiga to visitors, we aim to help guests discover the attractions of Otsu and foster casual, friendly connections between travelers and local residents.

We hope to create small opportunities that will help carry Otsu’s culture into the future.

LDK (Living Dining Kitchen)
We provide a spacious living dining area with an integrated kitchen where all guests can gather and spend time together. Equipped with cooking utensils, washing machine, and all essential amenities, you can enjoy your stay as if you were living here. Please relax and enjoy leisurely moments with your close friends or family members.

Bedrooms
We offer three bedrooms that can accommodate up to 9 guests. These spacious bedrooms feature a Japanese-style design where you can relax comfortably.

Bathroom
We provide a bathroom equipped with a rain shower. There is also a public bath (sento) within a 3-minute walk, so please feel free to use it. Kagura-yu

Garden
We have prepared a garden where you can feel the four seasons that will enhance your stay. Please enjoy the seasonal colors of the trees, including autumn leaves and plum blossoms.

Coffee Stand
You can enjoy freshly brewed coffee at our attached coffee stand. We have prepared an environment where you can relax and unwind during your stay at the guesthouse.

Our guesthouse is located just 20 minutes from Kyoto Station and a mere 10-minute walk from Lake Biwa, situated in the city of Otsu that connects Kyoto and Lake Biwa. With excellent access to the Osaka area as well, this is a city where unique culture and culinary traditions deeply connected to the lake flourish. Hidden charms yet to be widely discovered surely await you.

As a production area that has long supported Kyoto’s lifestyle and culinary culture, one of Otsu’s distinctive features is the opportunity to experience authentic quality. Despite its proximity to Kyoto, time flows leisurely through the city, allowing you to feel the charm of traditional Japanese life.
